If you have a good supply of finals, go for it and have a good time. I have heard several T4XB's on the air on AM, and they sound quite good to me. Controlled carrier AM is not as heavy a duty cycle as plate modulated 100% modulation, but I would think you still should hold the T4XC to 50W or so which will protect the L4B too. I'm not sure what output that will give you, but it should be sufficient. Garey, myself, and others used to run full duty cycle RTTY with the 4 lines we had, but finals were a couple of bucks each at the local TV repair shop too.

Personally, I have gotten interested in the REAL boatanchor plate modulated rigs and am having a ball. I just got my Johnson Viking II going last night and have had a lot of fun with it on 160M last night, and 75M this morning!! I may well use my R4C with its AM filter for the receiver for a while though, hi. I used the R7 last night and this morning, with a 6 kc filter and it wasn't bad, so I'm not sure.

Whatever you decide follow the manual exactly for the T4XC and the L4B. It all works better when you do, hi.
