Ahh, I need to go through the archives more. I only got back into having Drake rigs (aside from my C-4, which has been a shack companion since 1988) in 2009 and thus missed this discussion.
While aware that the 6AU6 can be used in a pinch, I was and am aware that their characteristics were different enough that the selection of the 6HS6 was done for good reason. The 6AH6 argument definitely has my attention, and I'll probably start using it for anything other than a museum piece.
