Garey,
Yes...I copy from the list fine.....I have never had a e-mail address I could not copy & vice versa??
.
The R-4A and the 9029 R-4B I have here are different in the V9 area. The 9029 S/N unit does have a diode in the circuit...where the R-4A does not...so there must have been 3 versions of that circuit?? Can you check that for me....to see that they are all on the CD?
And the board the circuits are on is way different too...
So, I will get the CD so I can have all the Schematics...I guess Drake did not had a published MOD for these changes? But it does not look all that difficult to do, other than being pretty tight to get a small terminal strip in.

I think the mod is worthwhile as this issue really does effect the RX quality at times.
The later R-4B I have does have the mod...so I have one to go on.

Garey, have you personally heard the issue I speak of here?? Have you made the mod on any of the R-4X?

If anyone else here wants to do this too...I will write up a list of instuctions, photos etc.
I will order the B line CD today...

Thanks,
73,
Lee

Subject: R-4A / R-4B AVC/NB problem.

Lee -

It looks like the internet robots aren't going to allow us to converse directly.
Hopefully you are
getting list mail ok..

You made a statement some time back that you had the same problem with BOTH an
R-4A AND an R-4B.
The point I have been trying to get across for the last week or so is that there
were considerable
changes to the grid circuit of the NB Amplifier, including removing it from the
AVC bus, _AFTER_
s/n 10501. The first 3000 R-4Bs were exactly the same as the R-4A in this area.

The latest schematic for the R-4B that is on the CD is the one in the back of
the R-4B Original
manual. The two earlier versions are in the MISC directory of the CD.
