Garey is correct never put tube shields on those two tubes.
That TX driver tube with the shield in place can easily
overheat and short out and usually burns a resistor.

I was told by a Drake engineer many years ago that they used
that style tube socket because they needed shielding around
the base of those tubes.    That tube socket style provided
that shielding that was needed and Drake never intended to
use a tube shield over either tube.

These tubes should NOT have shields on them.  The shield
base is enough shielding and adding the shield only
increases the heat, decreases the tube life.  Leave them
OFF.
