Hello,

Well after finishing some mods on my R-4C, I seem to have a case of the
wandering S-meter. I had to replace R-36 due to a close encounter with
my soldering iron, but now seem to be having a difficult time getting the
circuit to settle down. Seems the longer the radio is on, the meter will
gradually increase to about S-3 and stay there before drifting back down. No
matter how many times I attempt the adjustment, the meter never
remains at S-1 for very long. One time it would drift downward, but think that
might have been more of an issue with the noise blanker gain
adjustments.

Another issue is when the R-4C is in external mute, I get a low volume feedback
when the T-4XC is keyed. This did not happen prior to the
work being performed on the receiver. I have measured all the applicable
voltages on all the tubes and they were well within specs per the
manual.

Just curious if anyone has any pointers on the drifting meter. Guess I could
check the factory R33/34 resister, but according to the manual,
that value was selected during testing. So short of replacing the meter zero
and bias pot. I suppose further testing may be in order.

Thanks for any assistance.
