Thanks Gary.  I had suspected that when I inspected the chassis bore for the RF 
Tune shaft.  I has no discoloration or friction marks to indicate that a 
vernier was ever stripped out. I had thought about scrounging a vernier and 
knob set from a junker T-4X, but now I think I will keep it authentic.  Looks 
like we have the same vintage R-4A.
