I am in the process of writing a rather large and ranting post about my experiences in the last two weeks but for your sake let me point out that 8.4.1 has been a major letdown for me as well. 8.3.12 doubled the performance of the "rewrite" test in bonnie++ compared to 8.4.1 resulting in performance of the DRBD equal to the backing device. Never mind things like syncer speeds doubling as well, and an ext4 mkfs no longer pegging the reader process of the DRBD resource on the secondary side to 100% CPU... I'd respectfully submit that 8.4 just isn't ready for prime time yet.
