These days I pretty much always build drbd from source because it's easier to 
make sure you have the right one for your distro/kernel. The server that I 
copied the config file from had been built from source as well, but this time I 
evidently forgot to override the default prefix directory. (If did override the 
config directory.)

It's all working now. Tested failover and failback successfully a few times.
