Just regular local partition.
If you have a primary and secondary note that once one of them
recognizes that there is no connection to the other it should force it
self into a state of "not running".
In the case you have a reliable WAN connection which never make any
problems of connectivity then DRBD is good and I would say that you will
want to change the status manually.
If you have a direct connection between the machines so that they both
can know always each other state in a "mesh" like connectivity(2 wans on
separated carriers) then you probably are in a good state and the only
time you would get a split-brain situation is when the network
connectivity between the two is being "split" or "down".
You can always force the primary to get into a "bad" connection
situation which prevents an after "split-brain" issues.
I am almost sure that DRBD is for you.
(this is a DRBD list right? cannot talk about other things?)
