Sorry to post into this already closed bug.
Should this issue be fixed in 4.17.12?
I am asking because I see sporadic system hangs that start with these messages:
Aug 09 08:20:18 thinkpad kernel: [drm:amdgpu_job_timedout [amdgpu]] *ERROR*

Sounds similar to this bug.
