Arch linux-lts 6.18.55-1 — same fault, so not CachyOS-specific
- Mesa 26.2.4 radeonsi raven ACO, kwin 6.7.5 Wayland, kitty 0.49.2
- linux-firmware 20260916, TLP 1.10.2, taint 0
- No RADV involvement: faulting CS are kitty/kwin OpenGL (radeonsi)
Reproducer (~99% on cold boot):
1. echo high > .../power_dpm_force_performance_level
(in my case via TLP RADEON_DPM_PERF_LEVEL_ON_AC=high on AC,
plus CPU performance + boost 1). Locks sclk ~1200 / mclk 1200.
2. Cold boot, login to Plasma Wayland, immediately start any GL app.
3. Within seconds: 10x gfxhub faults, then ring timeouts.
Workaround: force_level=auto (sclk ~210 idle) => 0 faults.
Booting in powersave, waiting for DE to settle, then switching
to high usually survives. So the window is first-CS + locked-high.

Why I think it is a kernel bug, not config or dead silicon:
- PERMISSION, not MAPPING: PTE exists, access denied. SQC =
shader fetch path. Looks like shader-BO use-after-free /
wrong perms / VM-update race, or TMZ mismatch, exposed by
timing change under locked-high clocks. Same SQC 0xa class
is reported widely (RX 6700 XT, 9070 XT, games); TCP 0x8
variant in cosmic-comp#2149.
- TLP only writes "high" to sysfs as configured; driver must
handle "high" without wedging the VM.
- Dead VRAM would fail on auto and hot too, and would not
recover via MODE2. Here auto is clean, warm-late-high
usually survives.
- Not fully excluded yet: shared DDR4 needs memtest86+;
will run on request. Broken-BIOS warnings present
(TSC unstable, ccp psp unable to access), VBIOS 2019 vs
2025 firmware, PSP LOAD_TA 0x7 (normally absent RAS TA).
I can re-capture devcoredump with a udev rule on next high
repro, run amdgpu.vm_update_mode / cwsr_enable tests, or
provide compressed full journal (3.9 MB). Please tell which
artifact helps most.
