The 2D problems you notice must be some configuration problem of yours. The 3D support is own is way. Check at http://mefriss1.swan.ac.uk/~jfonseca/dri/faq/html/hardware.html#MACH64 if you want to help. But be warned that at this moment there is no DMA yet which means that you only have your 2 MB for everything (buffers, textures,...) so the driver at the current state is pretty unusable for you.
