I honestly haven't looked at it, I was just responding to your comment that some things that look like debug messages would/could lock the system. But if that is what's happening (printf's lock the system), then yes, something's broken in the interaction between 2d & 3d. Either in the GetLock() equivalent in the 3d driver, or wherever the 2d driver restores the hardware to whatever state it expects it to be in. If you can get another box, you'll be a lot happier. I have some parts in London that will get you started (where are you in the UK?), but you'll need at least a monitor & harddrive I'm afraid.
