It was afterward.  In the xawtv video window, it would first draw garble
(like it always does--then fade in), but it would just freeze w/the first
snapshot of garble, and was frozen from that point on.  No remote access,
nothing.  However, I do believe I rebooted w/magic sysrq combo.
