To be more accurate, I know what "locked in physical memory" means.
I dont know what is meant by "locked in kernel memory".

Not being a linux kernel developer, I was hoping that either the original
DRM coder, or a linux kernel developer, could explain what that phrase
means.


As I mentioned, under solaris at least, "physical memory" and
"kernel memory" are two different things. 
In a solaris context, "locked in kernel memory" makes no sense.
So I would like to see the current documentation clarified.
