People have discussed it in the past.  (For example, there once was a
plan to add such measurements to glean, and report glean results on
GLSetup.com.)  Because features and capacity limits and quality settings
interact so much, the number of measurements required would be extremely
large; I don't have a good sense of how they could be organized.

As far as I can tell, the most popular solution is still to check the
renderer string and pick code paths based on the hardware in use.
