No need to install from CVS, see http://dri.sourceforge.net/snapshots.phtml .

DRI developers have no time to work on the 4.3 or even 4.2 codebase, so bugs are
unlikely to get fixed there unless someone else puts in the effort to backport
fixes.

Did you use a snapshot from the URL above? If so, you need a newer XFree86
server binary, which should be provided in the extras package.

You only really need to update the 3D drivers though, i.e. radeon_dri.so or
r200_dri.so.
