I'm probably missing something (I don't even fully understand why this doesn't always work in the kernel)... but http://penguinppc.org/~daenzer/DRI/radeon-pageflip-cleanup.diff seems to get rid of the 'failed to unflip buffers' warnings here. Comments?
PS: The freedesktop.org domain doesn't work right now, I'm told on IRC (#freedesktop) it'll be fixed in the next days; in the meantime, x2.cs.pdx.edu works for ssh access at least.
This looks OK to me. It's been too long to remember if I tried that particular fix, but it does look like the right way to do it.
