Gamma correction works (for me at least) in 24bit mode only. :-/ BTW, in
24bit it looks like the LCD display (on my notebook) is driven with a
lower color depth than 24-bits. Therefore color gradients look better in
16bit mode because then they are software-dithered. Is this a hardware
limitation of the notebook's LCD panel or a driver problem?
