That's just weird. glxgears should never end up in any of the code modified by this patch. I get ~1600 fps on my box with the patch applied. Do you have any other patches?
There is one known bug in the patch. I accidentally left it set so that the SSE and SSE2 versions were never used. That's why you get the "Using MMX version" message. I should have an updated version in a bit.
