Thanks your patch works also fine for me. In fact with my previous approach
(Aapos patch and the uncommenting of r300_check_range by myside) some
GL-Apps i could test worked (eg neverball, glxgears, xscreensaver-modules),
whereas other just produced an segfault (celestia). Now even celestia runs.
