you need drm = <M> or drm=<N> built-in drm is bad..
Well, it certainly makes it difficult to upgrade in the usual way...
For the information of the list, I have just upgraded my Fedora Core 3
installation to kernel 2.6.11-1.27_FC3, and the drm and radeon modules
are now dynamically loaded (thank you Fedora folk!).
Interestingly, the combination of drivers I am currently running do not
exhibit the original problem (SIGSEGV), so it *may* have been solved by
newer drivers, that I was previously unable to load or test.
I say *may* because the programs that exhibited the original crash now
behave differently, indicating that perhaps hardware rendering is not
being used in some situations where it was previously, which could be
masking the original problem.
Thank you to everyone, particularly Philipp Klaus Krause, khaqq, Michel
Dänzer, and Dave Airlie for your help and patience. I am now in a good
position to actually debug any further problems I may find. :o)
Cheers!
Nik.
