Michel let me know about the new fglrx version and it seems to fix my issues with 1GB RAM and PCIE cards on the r300 front I've stopped the NMI from happening by allocing the PCIGART table down in GFP_DMA as opposed to GFP_KERNEL, the drm now goes into an infinite loop on the first access to the ring buffer.. I'd bet the ring buffer or DMA setups aren't correct...
