I have a radeon mobility U1, with the latest and greatest from Mesa and drm CVS. Blender launches fine, but as soon as I right click on a light souce to move it around, the display gets very screwed up, making the application unusable.

I've also noticed that doing the same thing (rigt clicking on a light souce) on any r300 card I have will cause blender to seg fault using the latest r300 drivers from CVS.
