I wouldn't expect it to make a difference, but why are you using forced PCI
mode? Your nforce3 chipset should work just fine with the amd64-agp module.
I assume it locks up with 24bit depth too?
There are fixes which should help against lockups in xorg cvs, though afaik they
wouldn't fix lockups only occuring after some time.
