I didn't know the status of the trident driver but if Alan says that is outdated
then you will likely need a lot of work to make it work. There have likely been
many change in mesa,drm,dri,ddx since this driver was left over. More over
i don't exacly know the hardware capacity but the trouble might not be worth
it, try browsing the web see if this hardware is really capable to accelerate
opengl.

I guess that your xorg server was build with a version 1.2. The client and
the server might use different library (to my understanding).
