Is there any remote chance at all that such distros will work with kernels >= 2.6.27 ? I'm asking since I remember that the current stable Debian contains kernel 2.6.18, the previous stable Debian contained kernel 2.6.8 (which was released nearly at the same time as X11R6.8.0), and the upgrade procedure was slightly tricky since there does not exist any udev version supporting both kernel 2.6.8 and kernel 2.6.18.
