In modesetting-101 branch there is a drm driver called radeon-ms which should 
developpement
history from the very begining up to some useable state. Might be taken as an 
tutorial, note
that this branch is now obsolete in favor of modesetting-gem but the general 
infrastructure
is more or less the same if you ignore memory management stuff (ttm in the name 
usualy).
