What exactly was the problem? If you're not sure which component is the
culprit, you can run git bisect in all of them in parallel.

I only try KDE occasionally and am unfamiliar with diagnosing problems with it.
For now this seems most likely a Mesa issue. Can you attach the glxinfo -l
output from a working and broken case?
