In fact, if, after the first suspend/resume, I switch to a virtual terminal I see the same video corruption I experience during the second suspend. Switching back to X fixes this corruption (but not always, at least in one case I was unable to switch back to the X session and I had to reboot the system). Moreover after the first resume I can't logout from X.
