Hi, I just tried using compiz on Acer Ferrari 4005 having installed "OpenSolaris 2008.11 snv_98". It looks good but seems very unstable - I had to kill Xorg a few times and in some cases reboot (I didn't know what else to do). In all cases the Control-Alt-Backspace did not help. And in the cases where I rebooted restarting xorg didn't help either.
So is the ATI Radeon driver still experimental? Are you aware of these issues? BTW, I found this alias after following a link from <http://blogs.sun.com/erwann/> which lead me to <http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/dri/> which as with most OpenSolaris.org pages I found to be most un-helpful! For example there are No announcements, No News, and no links to anything else that might be useful; not even a link to the mail archive where this message now lives. For the curious: Om my second console hang, I ssh'ed in from another machine to gather a core file. I think at the time of the freeze a pop-up (Yes/No) window was meant to be closing. the pstack looks like: $ pstack core.625 core 'core.625' of 625: /usr/X11/bin/Xorg :0 -depth 24 -nolisten tcp -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/g fffffd7fff2cc31a ioctl () + a fffffd7fec48c8b5 radeonWaitForFrameCompletion () + 1c5 fffffd7fec48ca53 radeonCopyBuffer () + 83 fffffd7fec48c49a radeonCopySubBuffer () + 8a fffffd7ffd04da37 __glXDisp_CopySubBufferMESA () + 117 fffffd7ffd04e6c4 __glXDisp_VendorPrivate () + 34 fffffd7ffd050686 __glXDispatch () + d6 000000000048ad42 Dispatch () + 4c2 000000000049e0c5 main () + 495 000000000047a3cc _start () + 6c Regards, Stacey _______________________________________________ driver-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/driver-discuss
