I've found gprof to be generally useless these days.... google-perftools includes a cpuprofiler. build with -lprofiler and then set CPUPROFILE=/tmp/foo then: $ pprof --callgrind server/.libs/drizzled /tmp/foo > /tmp/cg $ kcachegrind /tmp/cg much better.
