It's confusing to users. they think it's either a constraint, or it
actually saves storage.

Also, I think we can either have a mysqldump_to_drizzledump tool...
and/or we can have a dbdump tool that can speak Drizzle and MySQL (and
postgres? - maybe I'm reaching) and dump to an appropriate target syntax...

We should start a blueprint on this.

BTW I am not seeing anyone defending the int () syntax. Unless I see an objection I will either delete it myself (it is a bit of a weed...) or anyone else who wants to tackle it can.

Hi!

I've always thought this as well, but I have no strong opinion on it.

Realize that by dropping the () bit from INT you create an
incompatibility with mysqldump (of which we have plenty already).

Hi all,

Can we get rid of the (n) in INT(n) nonsense?
I'll admit I've made use of it in combo with ZEROFILL, but really I
was being lazy, other formatting was done in the app, and thus I'd be happy losing both the (n) and the ZEROFILL completely. The db should
not be involved in output formatting.

Arjen.
