Not to be pedantic, but the error isn't data truncation, the error is that
the data can't be inserted because it doesn't match one or more of the
table's constraints.  Maybe that's just my vote for "crappy error message
++"

We still have IGNORE for INSERT/UPDATE though. Ann Harrison brought this up
