If drizzle has not already done so, may I suggest that the YEAR datatype
be ripped out? There are actually two representations -- YEAR(2) and
YEAR(4) -- with different semantics. The only conceivable purge of this
idiocy is to save a byte on disk using different compressions of the
actual year. I wasn't aware that anything dumber than tiny blobs and
three byte binary existed, but there you have it.
