There is a small error in configure.ac which leaves you scratching your
head. It will tell you that you do not have libprotobuf installed when
you do. The issue is actually that you do not have an up2date version
of protobuffers.
If you are on Ubuntu, *do not* do sudo apt-get install libprotobuf-dev
since the version is 2.0.01b and you need 2.0.2+. If you have installed
libprotobuf-dev via apt-get, do:
$> sudo apt-get remove libprotobuf-dev
$> cd ~
$> wget http://protobuf.googlecode.com/files/protobuf-2.0.3.tar.gz
$> tar -xzf protobuf-2.0.3-tar.gz
$> cd protobuf-2.0.3
$> ./configure && make -j2
$> sudo make install
After that, you'll be all right to compile Drizzle again.
