Quick thought - you might want to make sure that UMD doesn't claim ownership of stuff you do as part of research projects and that you are, in fact, allowed to submit it. We don't require copyright assignment or anything. I, for one, think the idea of a uni owning work done by students is quite disgusting - but I'm also not a university lawyer.
