This seems like a very minor, but immensely useful, feature request:

Basically:

1) The default prompt of the commandline should be a partial-line comment, such as:
/* drizzle */

2) The second line of the default prompt should also be commented, such as:
/*    -> */
/*    '-> */

I don't like the prompt being commented by default, since it makes it look like it is part of the actual SQL itself. imo, being able to copy and paste it directly isn't a big enough thing for the added confusion when looking at it.

3) If the first line of the prompt is changeable, so should the second line be.

I agree that the second line should be changeable. If you do it, I would add another special code for what the expected character(s) should be, such as '\C'.

This would be a very simple thing to do, and I suspect it could get included into MySQL itself. Did you open a feature request bug? ;)
