+1 from me too. I think that supporting migration from MySQL should be done in the migration toolset (hint, hint to any contributors looking for work on a non-C++ task...). The migration toolset should already be looking at compatibility issues anyway, and cleaning up the backtick stuff would just be one step in the cleanup process...
