I was chatting with Aaron Bentley of Canonical last night about the merge request process. I was explaining that, as much as I love the existence of the "resubmit proposal" button, it was annoying that we lost the flow of the conversation when we use it.
It turns out that we're missing an interface element that would make us not need the resubmit proposal link nearly as often. When you review a branch, if you're rejecting it as a "needs fixing" or similar, also change the branch status from "Needs review" to "Work in progress" ... this will remove the branch from the list of pending merges. Then, when the person is ready for the branch to be looked at again, change the status back to "Needs review" and it will show up once more. This might make the ongoing conversation about the merge more better to follow...
