Hi!
Let me give an example from Livejournal.
When you view a page it will view N number of articles, but could
handle only receiving X number of articles. What I have considered in
the past is a feature where I would say "I want N articles, but if you
find that you X and the cost of getting N is above this, bail and just
give me X".
