The configuration from 0.9.x to 1.0.x is not entirely forwards compatible. 
You need to add "validatePeers" to your config.yaml:

server:
  applicationConnectors:
    - type: https
      validatePeers: false

The other incompatibility I hit is the server request log time zone has 
moved from here:

server:
  requestLog:
    timeZone: UTC

...to here:

server:
  requestLog:
    appenders:
      - type: console
        timeZone: UTC
