        Basics of Digital Signal Processing (Day 2)

1.      Sine wave generation.
2.      Random numbers (uniform and Gaussian).
3.      Quantization.
4.      SNR/SQNR.
5.      Unit Delay System.
6.      Basic LPF and HPF.
7.      Matlab useful commands for signal processing.
a.      Filter
b.      Conv, deconv
c.      FFT
d.      Freqz : magnitude and phase response.
e.      Grpdelay
f.      remez


If time permits following topics could be covered:

1.      Window based FIR design.
2.      FIR design using remez function.


Concepts will be taught in the class and the participants will be
asked to
code and see the results. So more emphasis is laid on the lab-
excercises.
Matlab/Octave will be installed on the machines. Since this is basic
course,
pre-requisites are not must, but it would be good if you have
completed
year of engineering in electronics, communication, instrumentation,
electrical
or comp science discipline. Some basic math knowledge and
understanding of
