I am researching products for my church and have high level questions about whether DSpace is for us.
1. We need to develop a method to catalog store and provide role based access to documents such as regulatory submissions, financial documents, HR documents, etc. Each type of document has a retention requirement. Access must be limited to specific roles within the organizations. 2. We have a rural community site, a physical plant, with all kinds of architectural, water lines, wastewater lines and utilities, in diagrams that need to be scanned and accessible to people. For instance a search on a particular building's plumbing, or all plumbing in general should yield results but documents can only be opened by people with the appropriate roles. 3. We have a number of artifacts and artwork that we want to photograph and catalog so we know where they are (or should be). Some of these items we want to make available to the public.i 4. What kind of back end data repository does DSpace have. We will want to report off of the data to create alerts about updating time sensitive documents or upcoming regulatory submissions (waste water management, etc...) Any help evaluating DSpace for these high level requirements would be most appreciate.
