Hi everyone, I am currently investigating whether it makes sense to assign different DOIs for versions of the same item in our repository. So for example, the pre-print has a DOI that’s different from the DOI of the publisher’s version. Or every book chapter from the same book has its own DOI.
I’ve been doing some reading on best practices/combing the literature on this topic, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? In addition, do you have DOIs for every item in the repository, or a DOI minting policy for the repository? And does your institution have a direct relationship with the DOI registry? If anyone is open to sharing their thoughts and expertise, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!
