I am answering this from an XMLUI perspective.  If you are running JSPUI,
this advice may not apply.

Confusingly, DSpace presents 2 forms of Statistics.

   - Adminstrative -> Statistics displays reports parsed from log files.
      - https://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/statistics
      - I believe that these reports are out of date, and I would not
      recommend starting to generate these reports.
   - Statistics -> Usage Statistics displays statistics data from SOLR.
   This is available at a repository, community, collection or item level.
      - https://demo.dspace.org/xmlui/statistics-home
      - I consider these reports more trustworthy.
