Sure: you’d just need to configure an authentication mechanism, and make sure items only have permissions for the people who log in (not the Anonymous group). You could choose whether or not you wanted the metadata to be accessible to Anonymous or just internal employees as well.
The metadata is stored in the postgres database. The actual files are stored <handwaves> somewhere on the server? Not my area of expertise. But they’re not accessible unless the system grants permissions, in any case.
