ITOCA, the News Media Section of IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) in partnership with the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Regional Centre for Southern Africa, University of Nairobi, Digital Divide Data and DuraSpace are organizing a Digitisation and Digital Preservation Workshop to be held at the University of Nairobi , Nairobi, Kenya during 11-14 February 2019. The event aims at providing participants with knowledge and information about digitisation of library collections, digitisation project management and digital preservation. The hands-on workshop will walk attendees through an entire digitisation workflow, starting from scanning a physical document and ending with deposit in a digital repository (in this case, DSpace). Coinciding with the workshop, DuraSpace will be presenting (either remotely or in person) on DSpace 7 and the DSpace Community. We are looking for an expert speaker with experience in managing digital images in DSpace who could participate in the workshop and guide the attendees through DSpace workflows and processes as a hands-on activity. Rather than a DSpace Developer we are looking for a DSpace User who could show how to use the tool. We are asking members of the community, possibly living not very far from Kenya, to let us know if they are interested in the initiative and, if so, to send us a brief bio with information about your experience in the domain.
