Hi Chris,

  1. Submissions to the demo site (https://dspace7-demo.atmire.com/) should
work fine. I just tried one as the Admin account ([email protected])
and it worked for me. It's possible this was broken accidentally for some
time, but we just recently pushed out an update (for the beta 2 release)
  2. That DSpace 7 REST API link you have is old. The REST API demo site is
available at https://dspace7.4science.cloud/server/ (it was available at that
prior URL back in January, but has been at this new URL since then)
  3. Unfortunately, there are no specific plans for line breaks or HTML in
metadata fields at this time. DSpace 7 is planned to work the same way that
DSpace 6 currently does. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it may seem, as
allowing any HTML would constitute a security issue (as submitters could
redirect or link you off to insecure content on the web). So, at a minimum,
support in this area would have to be limited to only a few HTML tags.
Additionally, this is sometimes semi-controversial as some import/export tools
do not always deal well with markup based metadata (e.g. import/export from
CSV, also OAI-PMH, etc.)

Hopefully that helps answer your questions.

Tim

Subject: [dspace-community] DSpace 7 questions

1. I have been trying to add items to the demo site
https://dspace7-demo.atmire.com/ . Any attempt to add items return an error
"There was an issue when saving the item, please try again later.". I have
attempted this over different days. Are we able to add items and communities on
this demo?

2. The link for the DSpace 7 REST API Demo
(https://dspace7.4science.cloud/dspace-spring-rest/) Results in an Apache "Not
Found" error. Is there a revised link available?

3. My Big Question: Will line breaks, character formats or HTML be available in
the description fields for items, in DSpace 7? Text formatted descriptions
would be an important option for us.
