I am pleased to announce the official launch of the LYRASIS DataCite US Community <https://www.lyrasis.org/programs/Pages/DataCite-US-Community.aspx>, a national consortium/community of practice for non-profit organizations in the US dedicated to creating and maintaining DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) for datasets, scholarly content, etc. via the DataCite <https://datacite.org/> DOI registration agency. Similar to our existing ORCID US Community <https://orcid.org/members/001G000001wND7XIAW-lyrasis>, this new program provides membership cost sharing, dedicated support, and a shared pathway for organizations to support open research infrastructure by using DOIs to make research and scholarly content more FAIR <https://www.go-fair.org/fair-principles/>: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. DSpace has fairly strong support for DataCite DOIs in v4,v5, and v6.x, and v6.4 will include an update to the latest DataCite metadata schema (see documentation: https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC6x/DOI+Digital+Object+Identifier).
